This brought to 27 the number of repatriated Ilonggo overseas workers who have the virus, and to 97 the region-wide COVID-19 cases, according to the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6 yesterday. * Iloilo City – 16 People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales. These droplets also land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth./PN Also, according to DOH-6, 38 patients have recovered while 10 died. * Negros Occidental – two Twenty-five cases (26 percent) have severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) while 15 cases (15 percent) showed mild cases of infection, added Pulmones. These four OFWs are currently in isolation at quarantine facilities in this city and Negros Occidental. The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. * Antique – 14 * Iloilo province – 18 * 23-year-old male from City Proper, Iloilo City (Patient No. 96) Dr. Ma. Sophia Pulmones, chief of DOH-6’s Local Health Support Division, said majority of the region’s COVID-19 patients were asymptomatic or not showing signs and symptoms of the disease. * Capiz – five * 50-year-old male from Molo, Iloilo City (Patient No. 94) * 45-year-old male from Talisay City, Negros Occidental (Patient No. 97) In Case Bulletin No. 46 released yesterday, DOH-6 further disclosed that 14 of the cases were in hospitals, five on home quarantine while 30 were in quarantine centers of local government units. * 30-year-old male from La Paz, Iloilo City (Patient No. 95) * Guimaras – zero * Aklan – six Here’s the breakdown of the 97 cases as of May 11: * repatriates – 27 (Aklan, one; Antique, three; Guimaras, two; Iloilo province, four; Negros Occidental, five; Bacolod City, two, and Iloilo City, 10) “Of the 97 confirmed cases, 57 were asymptomatic or 59 percent of the total,” said Pulmones. POTATOES, MILK, MEAT, POST AND STRANDED ISLANDERS FLOWN OUT TO TORY ISLAND

first_imgA rescue helicopter has delivered much-needed food supplies to Tory Island which has been cut off for the past week.Supplies are loaded onto the helicopter today.Residents of Tory, 12 miles off the mainland, had been running low on vital supplies. The ferry which takes passengers and supplies to and form the island has ben unable to travel because of high seas. But this afternoon, the Sligo-based 118 helicopter was dispatched from Carrickfin Airport to deliver the supplies. The helicopter also transported three islanders who had ben left out on the mainland for the past week. They included King of Tory Island, Patsy Dan Rodgers.“We are just grateful to the coastguard in helping us return to our island and who transported these food supplies. “By the looks of it the weather is going to remain very bad for the coming days and this food is vital for the people on the island,” he said.Ten people, left stranded on the island, were then taken from the island to allow them to return to college and attend hospital appointments.Among the supplies taken out to the island was 10 boxes of brad, 300 litres of milk, 27 boxes of potatoes, 14 boxes of meat and vegetables, 10 boxes of frozen foods and two bags of post.Among those who helped load the items onto the helicopter was local curate Fr Brian O Fearraigh, a voluntary member of the local coastguard. POTATOES, MILK, MEAT, POST AND STRANDED ISLANDERS FLOWN OUT TO TORY ISLAND was last modified: January 13th, 2015 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:donegalhelicoptersuppliesTory Islandlast_img read more
