Langata won the match 3-1.NAIROBI, Kenya, June 27 – The COPA Coca-Cola Under-16 football Nairobi region quarter finals posted mixed results as defending regional champions Upper Hill stamped their authority with a 4 -1 victory over their worthy opponents Dandora Secondary School.Andrew Teddy of Upper Hill Opened the score-line within the third minute, it took half an hour before either team scored and in the 35th minute, Jumu Joshua equalized for Dandora. In the second half, Upper Hill came from the rest guns blazing and scored two goals in the 64th minute through Budi Erick as Gona Boku sealed a semifinals place for Upper Hill.“The boys are prepared for the team that we will face in the semis, their morale is high, and this win has given them the impetus to win,” said Upper Hill Coach Gilbert WalusibiVincent Otieno of Dandora Secondary School (left), tackles James Owuor from Upperhill School during the Copa Coca Cola under sixteen matches at Lenana School in Nairobi today. Langata made a dream comeback to win the match through Mubuan Bur heart-trick and William Chemimir fourth goal that was caused by a defense blunder.In the girls category, Dagoretti Mixed Secondary School mauled Starehe Girls High School 9 nil to book a place in the Nairobi region semi-finals through Purity Dobister in the second minute after the kickoff, following a floppy move by the Starehe center-back, a minute later jersey number 11 Selphine Buchete made it two goals.Dagoretti’s Asuga Peris dribbled past Starehe defense to score the third goal in sixth minute. Joyline Orome scored the heart-trick of the day as she easily weaved through the Starehe defense line. Joy Kanja’s double in the 30th and 35th minute and Mary Atieno’s in the 70th minute sealed the fate for Starehe Girls High School Under-16 team.Highridge Secondary School shot to the Semis with an emphatic 5 -1 score against Ruai Secondary School. Highridge might just have the fastest score of the tournament after hitting the net within 30 second from the start.Yvette Nyawire opened the scores for Highridge then followed with another at the 6th minute. The teams displayed a lot of discipline and sportsmanship throughout the match.At the Dagoretti pitch, Olympic Girls were defending their regional title up against OLM, they won the match on a 5-1 score.At the same time, Pangani Girls sailed through to the semis after seeing off BuruBuru Girls 2-1 at Dagoretti High School pitch.Dagoreti Boys High School sealed their semis place after an emphatic 2 nil win over Ofafa Jericho Secondary School. ATHLETICS NEWS: ROSSES AC ATHLETE EMILY CROKE RECORDS A NEW PERSONAL BEST

first_imgRosses AC News:There were some good performances by our Rosses and Gaoth Dobhair athletes at the Sportshall Athletics trials at the Aura on Sunday last.Two Shot Putt victories and three personal bests from Emily Croke, Maghery who threw 8.36m in the U-13 Girls; Éamonn Ó Gallachóir, Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair who threw 10.71m in the U-13 boys and Saoirse Bonner who was 2nd U-15 with a throw of 8.64m. A double sprint victory by Dungloe lad John Boyle in the 2 Lap and 4 Lap. Victory for Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair girl Orfhlaith Winters in the U-15 Speed Bounce, indeed a 1,2,3 for our athletes here with Saskia Boyle and Caoimhe Boyle filling the top spots.There were many other fine performances from our athletes also. Well done to all. It is obvious the training and hard work is paying off.Well done to our athletes who received awards at the Donegal Athletics Board Awards night on Saturday last at the Finn Valley Centre. Those included Leah Mc Garvey, Ailbhe O Donnell, Patrick Marry and Aidan Gillespie for Master Athlete of the YearThe Club AGM was held on Friday night last in the center in Dore and it was great to see the large attendance. A strong committee and support team were put in place with positions filled to be detailed next week. For the new committee please note there will be a Committee Meeting this Friday night at 8pm again in the Center in Dore. Please note that Registrations are now due for the calendar year 2015. This will be required and cover for all athletes for indoors, track and field, cross country, etc. Forms can be got and returned at the Sporthall nights in Gweedore and Dungloe. Paul McGee will have forms for the adults as well as the form being posted on facebook. A registration night will also be held over the next few weeks so please watch for details.Sportshall Athletics are started again in the Pobalscoil Gweedore on Monday nights. Contact Ita for details on 0871309536.The club 5k Spring Series is coming up with the following dates Race 1 – Sunday February 1st at Carrickfinn. Race 2 – Sunday March 29th at Carrickfinn. Race 3 – Sunday April 26th at Carraickfinn. This is a good starting point for people looking to run 5ks, 10ks, adventure races, etc for the year as part of a pre season plan, getting started into walking, jogging or running. The idea would be to get a benchmark to start with and build over the 3 months. The races will be open to serious runners, recreational runners, joggers, walkers, etc in a family friendly environment promoting health, participation and fun. Come on, join the fun and get healthy.Training sessions are happening on Wednesday evenings at 7pm at the Industrial Estate with planned sessions happening. Please feel free to come along and join the adult group who do a long run in the forestry every Sunday morning at 11am.
